The Sunday School Department Akinyele Region, as presently constituted came into being in 2022 after a further subdivision of the former Akinyele Region into 3 Regions of Akinyele, Akilling and Essien. Prior to this subdivision. Akinyele Region of which the Sunday School Department was a part was created out of the former Lagos 1,2,3, Ogun State and Republic of Benin in 2019.

Some Activities of the Department
Activities of the Department include but not limited to the following:
1. Organizing the Annual Akinyele Region Sunday School Teachers Rally.
2. Quarterly meetings of DCC/Zonal/District Coordinators.
3. Involved in organizing the Annual National Sunday School examination Lagos Chapter
4. Participation in the Annual Sunday School Teachers rallies.
5. Twice-a-year meetings of all Sunday School Teachers in the region.
6. Other activities as may be required.
