The organ and horns resounded, and angelic voices filled the air as the auditorium of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Somolu DCC Headquarters Lagos came alive on Sunday 27th October, 2024 for the 58th annual choir festival, themed “Faithful Father.” This vibrant event celebrated the beauty of musical artistry.

The festival featured impressive performances, blending traditional and classical gospel music. Notable pieces included ‘Olorun to layo’ and ‘Gbori s’oke,’ both composed by the esteemed Ayo Oluranti, along with ‘Oyin ni Jesu’, ‘Oluwa salabo mi’, and the festival anthem, ‘Grateful’ all written by the Music Director of CAC Nigeria & Overseas, Elder Bidemi Oyesanya (SAN). The audience also enjoyed “Ore mi se pelepele,” a classic by the legendary Ebenezer Obey, skillfully arranged by Seun Owoaje, among other uplifting selections like “Heralds of Christ.”

“Oyin ni Jesu,” composed by Bidemi Oyesanya, is a heartfelt celebration of the joy of being in a relationship with Jesus Christ, underscoring faith’s spiritual fulfillment. Its lyrics resonate with themes of love and gratitude, serving as a powerful reminder of the transformative and joyful nature of faith.

“Gbori Soke,” inspired by Psalm 24 and composed by Ayo Oluranti, beautifully illustrates God’s might and majesty, inviting listeners to recognize His sovereignty. The song’s melodious arrangement encourages worshippers to lift their voices in praise, fostering a sense of reverence and awe.

The DCC Superintendent and Secretary of Akinyele Region, Pastor E.O.O. Oyedeji, delivered a soul-stirring message from Isaiah 54:17ff, highlighting the profound benefits of having God as a Father. He encouraged attendees to strengthen their faith and deepen their relationship with the Divine.

He thanked Pastor Oyedeji for his invaluable leadership and support, as well as the choir supervisor, Pastor A.Z. Osinbajo, and other choir leaders for their dedication to the choral art. Elder Olagoke commended the choir members for their hard work, which was crucial to the festival’s success, and honored the patrons, patronesses, and advisers for their unwavering support.
